Superwood is not only impregnated on the surface, as known from traditional pressure treated impregnated wood. It is completely impregnated into the core.
The unique waterproofing technology brings wood preservatives further under the wood surface as microscopic particles that attach themselves anywhere in the wood cells. In other words, all profiles, planks, and other Superwood products are protected from the inside out.
This means that you can plan, saw, and drill without exposing unprotected ends and surfaces. Also naturally formed cracks are automatically protected against rot and fungus.
Superwood impregnation consists of organic antifungal agents approved by the Environmental Protection Agency and the EU. Completely without heavy metals and organic solvents. Superwood have been awarded the EU Environmental Award in the category "cleaner technology".
During the process the impregnating agent is dissolved by carbon dioxide, which transports it into the very core of the tree. The wood preservative agents are inside the tree, when the carbon dioxide is discharged and reused.
Once the tree has been through the patented impregnation, it still has the same moisture percentage and the same natural features as before treatment. This means that the timber still has its natural color, it is dry and light - and it works naturally with respect to crack formation and so on.
Only 0.4 grams of wood protection is used to fully impregnate 22x123 mm Superwood cladding. This corresponds to one hundredth of what is used by traditional pressure impregnation.
Superwood become fully impregnated at our factory in Hampen, Midtjylland. When we get the wood delivered from the sawmill it is assembled into packages. The whole package is run in an enclosed pressure vessel, where impregnation takes place.
1. The wood is placed in the closed container. Carbon dioxide and wood preservatives are added, and the pressure and temperature increases.
3. The wood preservation will be recorded everywhere in the wood, from the inside out. The whole package of wood is being treated once all together.
4. The pressure and temperature returns to baseline. The carbon dioxide is discharged and reused. The excess preservation of wood is worked up and recycled. The wood is now resistant to rot and fungus.
